i will never get sick of any of them.

fall break.

fall break at its best.

1) "thriller" with matt's family
2) driving the alpine loop and seeing beautiful leaves.
3) girls night and visiting baby anabelle... so precious.
4-6) BYU blackout game with bryce and caitlin.  unfortunately they lost, but it was still good times.
7) finally completing our bed. thank my mother the seamstress
8) changing my name... i'm officially a Harris!
9) going to see "the perks of being a wallflower" with tregani
best movie. best quotes. i will definitely see this again.

some other things we did over fall break that didn't get documented
*had dinner at sammy's for the first time with rachel & drew followed by game night
*watched a slew of scary movies including paranormal activity 2 and the women in black

*pizza party with friends
*started breaking bad with the husband

*slept in
*cleaned house
*lesson plans, lesson plans, lesson plans
*homework

now, if only fall break came once a month :)

hunger games review. link it up.

what i liked:
* I thought it followed the story line so well.  I haven't read the first book in probably over a year, but even so I thought they did a really good job not altering the story line, and keeping the parts that mattered most.  I felt like someone who hadn't read the book could get a pretty good understanding of the story.

*katniss.  oh that woman.  i thought her character was played so well.  she was exactly how i pictured her in the book.

*the camera work.  many people did not like how jerky, fuzzy, and all over the place the camera was at times.  I however think that it added to the experience.  I don't get motion sickness easy so i was not bothered.  I thought it was awesome.

*the suspense.  even though i knew what was coming, it still had me clutching my seat.  when the dogs were thrown into the mix i literally jumped a mile (mostly because the woman in front me, her reaction was so intense it scared me even more haha)

*katniss as "the girl on fire."  i was so excited to see how they were going to portray this in the film and i was not disappointed at all.

*effie played a flawless character.  she did such a good job and looked exactly how i pictured.  her personality and style matched exactly what the book portrayed.  elizabeth banks nailed it.

*i loved the relationship cinna and katniss had, especially the part right before she enters the tube for the hunger games.  you could tell that cinna truly believed in katniss and wanted the best for her. go lenny kravitz.
what i didn't like:

*i didn't like how it portrayed katniss' relationship with gale, or lack thereof.  I felt like for people who haven't read the book they don't get a chance to understand the depth and closeness that katniss and gale share.  I felt like they could have spent a bit more time with that, because in the books I love gale. In the movie he was just... ehh.

*i also felt like they could have developed rue and cato's characters a little bit more in the movie, especially rue because i just love her.

*at first i was a bit annoyed about how they changed how katniss came to own the mocking jay pin.  in the book it is given to her by the mayor's daughter, but in the movie it is given to her in town by an old lady.  The more i thought about it, i realized that that specific detail isn't important or detrimental to the outcome of the story.  it would have been time wasted on an insignificant character.

*haymitch did quite meet my expectations.  for some reason, i pictured him to be a bit older and a little more haggard than he was in the movie.  i do think that woody harrelson captured his personality well.

*i wished they would have spent more time in the cave with katniss and peeta.  in the book, that is one of my favorite parts.

all in all, i think the movie was pretty freaking great.  i went into it not expecting anything because i didn't want to be disappointed, and disappointed i was not.  I think they did a good job with the time that was allowed.  Obviously the book is always going to be better because of the attention to details and the ability to expand more, but i think this is one of the better book turned movie.

one year older..and wiser too.

on september the first, i turned the ripe old age of 24.
my dear friend treg reminded me that according to today's standards and way of life... 26 is now considered middle aged.
i've got two years... gross.
with that being said, my 24th birthday festivities were top notch.
my friends and family truly out did themselves to make me feel loved and special.
it started the night before my actual day of birth...
with a girl's movie night.
crazy.stupid.love
so funny. i loved it. and ryan gosling is oh so mighty fine :)

birthday loves. my face looks chubby but it's ok cuz it's my birthday.
after the movie we ran through sprinklers in the cemetery.. but got no documentation.
on september first, two thousand and eleven, i woke up to a car looking like this.

my friends are the cutest. each sticky note had a memory or something great written on it.
then my women took me to breakfast at magelby's fresh.. yum yum.

the rest of the day consisted of work. school. and more work.
cuz afterall. the world doesn't stop on my birthday.. haha
after work all my best pals got together to give me presents and get some fro-yo. it was good good times.

we tried to make the men take a picture like us, but this is the best we could get.
the birthday festivities continued on throughout the whole weekend.
dinners.
games.
hot tubbing.
shopping.
and an extra long weekend :)
my family celebrated my birthday on sunday.
it was weird not having the whole family there but still great nonetheless.

thank you to all of my friends and family for making my 24th celebration of life a great one :)
if there is one thing i've learned, it's that life only gets tougher.
here's to a great 24...
love,
amyLynn

girls night.

let it be known that i love boys.
in some ways i get along better with boys than with girls.
i grew up mostly with brothers
(my sisters were older and too cool. and then married and gone)
i've dated my fair share of boys.
and had some best guy friends.
BUT...
there is nothing like a GIRL'S NIGHT!!
Last night I played with Steph, Caitlin, and Michelle.
We went and saw the movie Burlesque.
WOW.
Seriously. if you haven't seen it. you should.
Christina is RIDICULOUS.
she sings like no one i've ever heard.
Also. movies 8 on a saturday night is BUMPIN' haha

we had to stand out in the cold in a line forever.
After the movie we sang our hearts out in the car on the way to
Brick Oven.
so delicious.
there may or may not have been some people that wanted to beat us.
To the people who sat around us...
sorry we are loud.
sorry we like to sing.
sorry we laugh alot.
sorry we have fun.
but not that sorry. cuz it was worth it.
on another note. the staff at brick oven is quite friendly. haha
after a long, hard, busy week.
girls night was the best.
i'm lucky to have good girl friends.
the church is true.
happy sunday :)
love,
amy lynn
