guest post: brielle

while i enjoy my last day of vaca **tear** enjoy one last guest post from the lovely brielle (who happens to basically be on the same vacation i am... although we have yet to run into eachother) haha take it away girl..
hello lovely followers of amy lynn, brielle here! i blog over at mr. d & me & am so excited to be guest posting on amy lynn's blog while she is out enjoying the sun with her cute future husband! aren't they just adorable?
well, speaking of husbands, i have a pretty cute one myself.  in fact, i think he is the cutest boy i know!
totally adorable right? yeah, i know.
well, since amy is getting so close to planning her very own special day, i thought i would tell you a little more about ours and how we picked our date! i know a lot of people pick their wedding date because of the convenience, but that never was the case for me.  in fact, our wedding day came at a pretty inconvenient time in our lives, but i wouldn't have had it any other way. ever since i was a little girl, i have been making wishes at 11:11 p.m, and the wish was always, of course, for true love.  there were a few times i thought i found my 11:11 wish, but things just never worked out.  my heart was broken on many, many occasions, but i kept wishing.  finally, one night early in march, my wish came true in the form of a boy i met at an lds institute dance. he was crazy, adorable, and just what i was looking for.  casual dates turned into kisses, which turned into love, and before i knew it, i was planning a wedding! {you can read more about our dating adventures here & check out or engagement story here!}  i jokingly mentioned getting married on 11/11/11, but the more we thought about it, the more the day seemed to fit.  sure, i didn't really want to wait that long... i was in love and i just wanted to move in with that boy and start the rest of my life.  it was right in the middle of a semester, which meant we wouldn't be able to honeymoon anywhere far, and it was just an all-around stressful time to marry, but it just felt right.  the luckiest day of the year for the luckiest thing that ever happened to me?  of course!
it was the most stressful day of my life but i wouldn't trade it for anything.  i can honestly say these last {almost} seven months have been the best times of my life.  mister d is the perfect answer to every wish i've ever made.  our wedding day was perfect and i never want to forget it! thank y'all for listening to my little rambling about our perfect day & thanks to amy for having me! come visit! matthew picked the ring out himself and i love it.  when i get back from california i will post about how it happened.

and the second exciting thing is that eryka from from abcde is going to guest post for me today.
i love her and her blog and you are all in for a treat.
take it away lady...

Hello Life As I Know It readers. You are probably wondering what the heck? Where is Amy? Well, miss Amy asked me to keep her blog company for the day. Im, Eryka from ABCDE. ABCDE is a lifestyle blog where I post about my life as a wifey and share things I love//things that inspire me. I am the type of girl who loves the color pink, gets way too attached to book//movie//tv characters, I am married to my best friend, I love pasta and probably could eat it everyday, trust me I don't!

Amy told me I had free reign on what I wanted to talk about today.....I thought about it and seemed like this was the fitting topic. Since Amy is going to a be a Wife soon. I thought I would talk about a few things I have learned as a Wife. I am no expert, but I try my hardest to be the best wifey I can.

I think a lot of girls think when they get married everything will peachy keen. Let me tell you it isn't. Before my husband Daniel and I got married I read a few books on marriage. They really helped me know what can of wife I wanted to be to Daniel and what kind of marriage I wanted.

You can read all the books in the world but, the only way you can be any of those things is acting on them. I wanted and still strive to be the best wife I can be but, I quickly learned that I am not perfect. Shocking, huh?

During the first few weeks I would get up early when Dan was getting ready for work and make him a lunch. This was my way of showing him how much I appreciated him and his hard work. After a few weeks of this, I stopped and I felt terrible, felt like I was a failure as a wife. {funny now I look back on it. haha} That is just one story of how I let the little things make me feel down.

No matter my faults Dan loves me. I can't even tell you all the times he has held me while I cry about how I think I am a sucky wife. All the while he strokes my hair and tells me I am the best wife he has ever had. {if you Dan then you would laugh...I am his only wife he has ever had...haha}. I have since learned that I not perfect and it's ok. All that matters is that I am the kind of wife I want to be to Dan. A loving, caring, supportive, and not perfect one. That is ok with me!

What I am trying to say, is wether you are married, engaged, or single you can always be preparing to be the kind of Wife you want to be. Something I did before we got married was write down a few goals for marriage. I challenge you to do the same. It can be a few or a bunch up to you. Some of mine were:

+ pray together daily
+ make time for each other
+ hold hands often
+ say i love you everyday more than once
+ have date night once a week {out or in}
+ always support each other
+ to remember its ok to disagree on things
+ laugh with each other

I hope you all enjoyed this post and at least took away one thing from it. I loved being over here today. Thanks Amy for letting me. Hope you all have a wonderful day!!!!!

california and hima.

hello to all.
i write you from the {beautiful} and {sunny} newport beach.

i will be spending the next week here with some of my family and of course mr. harris.

i'm quite excited to getaway for awhile and relax.
while i am away i have lined up some great guest posts for you from the ladies you see to the right
----------------------------------------------------->

first up is Hima from My Musings.  she is fairly new to the blog world and i will let her introduce herself....

Why, hello there! I'm Hima, a 14 year-old self-described optimist, in the Silicon Valley (CA).  I'm absolutely addicted to strawberries, kiwis, and sea salt chocolate covered almonds. I'm a first degree black belt in taekwondo. My blog is mainly a lifestyle blog, but I love to do recipes, fashion, music, and just about everything! I'd love to meet you and get to know you AND your blog!

1)   I’m Young!
Most bloggers are either college or 20-something lifestyle bloggers, family bloggers, product bloggers or photography bloggers. Of course, every major corporation has their own blog too. But me? I’m still in high school, and a freshman at that!

2)   Monday Melodies
Every Monday, I do a spotlight on one song or artist whom I think is really good and could get more recognition. I try not to post about mainstream artists because everyone already knows about them! Monday Melodies helps introduce people to amazing artists who might just not be on the radio 24/7. Who knows? You might find a new favorite!

3)   Tutorials on anything and everything
I’m not terribly artistic or anything, but I have bouts of creativity and I love simple DIY-projects and anything to do with duct tape! I also love baking and will often do an easy tutorial on my latest culinary adventure or craft-attempt. Just sharing the wealth, ya’ll.

4)   Thought-Rambles
I often have the weirdest thoughts and I love to put them down in writing to see what people think of them. Because they are usually long and a little unstructured, I’ve termed them thought-rambles. So far I’ve written about Romeo and Juliet and Harry Potter, and I've got something new lined up for this week!

Hope this entices you to check out my blog.  I'd love to get to know you and your blog! Thank you so much for having me Amy!

<3Hima

isn't she just cute? be sure and check out her blog for more greatness.
love.

guest post: everyday is a new adventure.

today i am lucky enough to have Alyx over for a guest blog. over the last month or so i have gotten to know her better and can i just say that she is so funny, smart, and friendly. i'm super excited to have her and let all my readers get to know her more too! so let's get to it!! take it away Alyx...

Hey there, hi there, ho there, readers of Life as I Know it! I am just oh so thrilled to be here on Amy's blog guest posting today!

My name is Alyx [no that's not a typo - my name is really spelled with a "Y"], and I blog over here. I'm not gonna lie to you guys. I'm having a huge brain fart and have no idea what to write about, so you lucky ducks get to watch me be a freak and ask myself a bunch of random questions which I will then answer. Cool, huh? I mean... haven't you always wanted to read some random girl's self-interview? Of course you have.

So, without further ado, I bring you my interview with... me!

Q: Why do you blog, and what do you blog about?
A: Well, I started blogging when I packed my life into two suitcases and moved across the globe with my husband. Then... I decided it was kinda sorta TOTALLY AWESOME and became addicted. I blog about a bunch of random crap. As I like to say,

You won't find inspirational entries on my blog (unless the post deals with Nutella, in which case you will be inspired to whip out a spoon and go to town).

You won't find crafts (unless you count poorly drawn stick figures as something crafty).

You will find recipes, but they probably won't be healthy (unless, of course, you think peanut butter, nutella, and massive amounts of cheese [not all together] are healthy).

You will, however, [almost] always, leave my blog with a smile on your face. I tell ridiculous stories, I takeridiculous pictures, I confess ridiculous secrets, I rant about ridiculous things [like the lack of evil stores like Walmart], and I share my thoughts on those ridiculous [but oh, so loveable] Germans.

Q: Do you actually think you're funny?
A: Heck frickin' yes I do. Am I rolling on the floor, peeing your pants funny all the time? Nope. But I'll make ya chuckle. If nothing else... I'm funny bc I'm willing to make fun of myself. Moral of the story: I like to laugh. Laughing is fun, and it's good wen you can laugh at yourself.

Q: What's your favorite European City?
A: Prague. Best city in the world.

Q: If you could have any exotic pet, what would it be?
A: An elephant. Those things are awesome, and I would ride it everywhere. Who needs a car when you have an ELEPHANT?!?!

Q: Do you speak German fluently? Why are you in Germany? Speaking of Germany, do Germans really run around in leather pants drinking beer all the time?
A: Yes. Because I do what I want, yo. No... I'm actually here because of a scholarship. I know, I'm a nerd. And... only in Bavaria. Those dudes are weird!

Q: Are you done being a weirdo and talking to yourself?
A: Yes. If you want to read more from the weird girl, stop by my blog and say hello!
